I have read all about this Re-make...laughing at every turn...laughing at every bit of casting ...now I see the trailer I just can't believe it was really done!!!

12. As a fan of the original movie... this teaser made me go "WTF!?" initially. It's incredibly obvious that they do not wish to rehash the original material but to produce a quasi-"reboot". Okay, fine. Now that I KNOW that, from seeing this teaser, I can approach this film from a similar angle.

I was actually excited to see a re-creation of the original film. Now I'm more curious as to what they DO with the material.

15. Why do people cry over remakes? i mean really, are you that much of a petulant child that gets all upset cause someone else is playing with his favourite toy?? grow up, movies are movies and old movies get remade, big deal!

I personally love remakes, i love the originals and sometimes if done right (dawn of the dead among many others) don’t detract from the original but give us an update to an already great story.

The thing currently ranks as my favourite all time film, nestled alongside Alien, now i own original signed posters of both films along with various other collectors crap and when i heard they were remaking the thing, i didn’t go all "there raping my childhood" bullshit like you crybaby fan-atics, i went cool, hopefully I’ll get a chance to see a re-imagining of a really cool storyline set in a modern world with some great sfx, what the fucks wrong with that?? if its shit, its shit, if its class, happy days i'll buy it on bluray but it will in no way detract from the original which will always remain my no.1 film

so to sum up, wise the feck up, who gives a shit if they remake this, as far as im concerned the original was a great movie and this looks pretty sweet!

16. I am usually against remakes, especially of iconic films like "The Day the Earth Stood Still." That having been said, making an environmental version of this story may not be such a bad idea, though I must admit, Reeves hardly has the screen presence of Michael Renny.
